I seriously miss you and can not wait to go back.
Eat:
- Gibson’s Steakhouse on Rush. Make a reservation. This place is top notch!
- Try Giordano’s, Lou Malnati’s and Gino’s East to see whose deep dish you like better. My personal fave is Gino’s!
- Eataly. Drink wine, eat pasta, get gelato.
- Dimo’s Pizza. We had mac n cheese, nacho and s’mores pizza!
We made sure we could arrive into the windy city just in time for the last Cubs home stand game of the season. If you can, Wrigley Field is a must-do. And obviously, eat a Chicago dog.
- After the game go to Sluggers. It’s a bar that has batting cages upstairs and arcade games. Super fun!
And while you’re at it, the White Sox are a ride down the red line. It was Chi-rish night at U.S. Cellular Field when we went.
We also planned the trip around a Packers v. Bears game. Soldier Field was lots of fun! We tailgated with some friends before the game and got yelled at by Bears fans – it felt so good to win. Especially when I caught #29 Casey Hayward’s glove at the end of the game!
Lastly, if you have the time – buy a City Pass which gets you admission to a few of Chicago’s top attractions. We went to
- the Field Museum and saw Sue – the largest and most complete T. Rex ever discovered
- the Sky Deck (Sear’s Tower). Take crazy photos! I did a handstand and my stomach dropped.
- the Adler Planetarium
We also went to Oktoberfest, the Jazz Festival and a reggae concert who’s singer was coincidently from Long Beach. Chicago? When can I see you again?!
Finally came back for Halloween 2015 with a group of friends for the weekend. Too much fun!
Check out Metro Club for fun parties, concerts/shows and good people. Also, take a cruise along the Chicago river!
