Oahu
Both times that I have been to Oahu were for the Wanderlust yoga festival. The first time was in 2013, shortly after I got certified to teach yoga. Those 4 days were absolutely life c h a n g i n g. My perspective on pretty much everything in this universe was altered. It was on the North Shore at Wanderlust where my spiritual journey began and I when I really fell in love. I shed old patterns of thought and blissed out on life. Activities included: mediation, slack-lining, surfing, super powerful yoga classes with Baron Baptiste and Eion Finn, and a silent meditative hike and trance dance with Shiva Rea. The second time was the following year where I was then doing Artist Relations for the festival. That year, I had the best experience as I got to work with Moby and Donavon Frankenreiter and still get to experience all that Wanderlust Oahu had to offer. This time around I did SUP yoga on the North Shore, was moved on all planes by Seane Corn and so much more. I can not stress enough how much Wanderlust has changed my life. Not to mention, my beau was able to come along to do stage production and attend the festival as well.
Where to stay:
Turtle Bay Resort. Located on the North Shore, this beautiful resort is a great place to escape, yet still have plenty to do. One night, our plans fell through and we happened to be walking through the lobby – stumbled upon a painting class that was just about to start. This was something we had been wanting to do for a while and it just happened to find us. While we painted lotus flowers (the given lesson) we were served wine…we both agreed – doing this was way better than what we had planned for the night!
What to eat:
- At Turtle Bay: Ola, Surfer, Kula Grille and Lei Lei’s
- Ted’s Bakery (a local favorite!)
- Any of the surrounding shrimp shacks near the resort. Everything there is amazing.
Kauai
This happened so long ago for me but from what I remember, this island is the most peaceful. It’s the island you visit to immerse yourself in nature, to enjoy the company you are with and to relax.
Maui
This happened so long ago that I didn’t even have a platform to digitally store any photos. You’d have to come over and see the family scrapbook. What I loved about this island was snorkeling in the Molokini Crater (and throwing up all over our boat’s deck), driving the Road to Hana and having the freshest pineapple, sugar cane and shaved ice for the first time.
